In Norse mythology, Skínfaxi (“sheen mane”) and Hrímfaxi (“frosty mane”) are the horses of Dagr (day) and Nótt (night). Skínfaxi pulls Dagr’s chariot across the sky every day and his mane lights up the sky and earth below.

The journey of the sun across the sky was an important element in the Bronze Age religion. One of its most famous representations might be the Trundholm Sun Chariot where a divine horse pulls the sun. But more commonly, they show a horse pulling the Sun’s disc across the sky, without the help of wheels.

These Talismans and the other pieces of the “Petroglyph” collection are inspired by rock carvings all over the World and specifically by the Sun-Horse of Balken.

This listing is for one Talisman.

– Handmade by me.
– Sterling silver, sustainable and ethically recycled in France.

Each talisman is sawn, assembled by soldering, hammered then polished ; entirely handmade. Each one is unique and has its very own shape and character.

– The pendant is also available without chain.
Note: on the version without chain the jumpring will be slightly bigger to allow chains or cords to go through.

SKINFAXI. Cheval solaire. Pétroglyphe Age de Bronze, Talisman Viking, art rupestre. Pièce unique (argent massif écologique recyclé)

Dans la mythologie nordique, Skínfaxi (“crinière brillante”) et Hrímfaxi (“crinière givrée”) sont les chevaux de Dagr (jour) et Nótt (nuit). Skínfaxi tire chaque jour le char de Dagr dans le ciel et sa crinière illumine le ciel et la terre en dessous.

Le voyage du soleil était un élément primordial de la religion de l’âge du bronze. Une des plus célèbres représentations pourrait en être le Char solaire de Trundholm où un cheval divin tire le soleil. Mais le plus souvent, ils montrent un cheval tirant le disque du Soleil à travers le ciel, sans l’aide de roues.

Ces talismans ainsi que les autres pièces de la collection “Pétroglyphe” s’inspirent des gravures rupestres du monde entier et plus particulièrement Cheval solaire de Balken.

Chaque talisman est scié, assemblé par soudure, martelé et poli ; le tout entièrement à la main. Chacun est unique et possède une forme et un caractère qui lui sont propres.
