The Talisman is my jewellery version of the American Indians Medicine Pouches. My mother is Canadian and this culture has always been very dear to me.
Each Talisman holds four different gems, selected by me for their beauty & their power, and is contained in a glass vial from the 1930s. The Talismans are necklaces and come on a long sterling silver chain. And a little handmade booklet explaining the properties of each gem accompanies each necklace. They will soon be in the shop.

I am currently reading Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. A book that expresses the American Indian perspective of the injustices and betrayals of the US government in its dealings with the Indians. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. In 2007, HBO realised a film after this book.
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee get its title from the last lines of S.V. Benet’s American Names poem.

Chaque Talisman renferme quatre gemmes différentes, que j’ai sélectionnées pour leur beauté et leurs vertus, et est contenu dans une fiole datant des années 1930. Les Talismans sont des sautoirs et sont vendus avec une longue chaine en argent. Et un petit livret fait-main expliquant les propriétés de chaque pierre accompagne chaque collier. Ils seront bientôt en boutique.

En ce moment, je lis Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Un livre qui exprime la vision Amérindienne des injustices et des trahisons du gouvernement Américain lors de ses interactions avec les Indiens. Je ne saurais que trop vous conseiller cette lecture. En 2007, un film a été réalisé par HBO d’après ce classique de la littérature Américaine.
